Hi Sergio, so great to have you join us again. For folks who might have missed our earlier conversations, can you please take a minute to briefly introduce yourself?
My name is Sergio Escalona; I am the founder of Artonit Cosmetics. From a young age, my love for the arts was evident, having my mother and Grandmother nourishing that talent. As I grow older, I realized I could translate my God-given talent from the canvas to a face. Then I start discovering the world of Makeup
Is there anything about your journey that you wish you could go back and change?
There are so many things any of us would like to change in the journey, but I’m glad they happened; they made me stronger and gave me wisdom. I have laughed, I have cried, but those emotions and experiences is what makes the journey so beautiful

What has been the hardest obstacle you have faced?
The most challenging obstacle has been finding the right people to be part of the dream. Many times, people who have come aboard don’t have a common interest but one of their own. I am a true believer in teamwork. Also, the production of cosmetics is quite costly if you are creating custom items which can lead to thousands per color. And yes, that’s an Auch! especially for indie brands and limited budget

What (or who) can you count on during difficult times?
God has been my support and fortress thru the most challenging times in my life. I cannot let out a man who has always been there for me no matter what. His name is Orlando Castellanos; my everything! And without his understanding, I couldn’t accomplish many of the things I had achieved so far.

What inspires you when you paint?
I cannot paint without inspiration or paint just to paint. Usually, my paintings are of asymmetrical women. I barely sketch any of my artwork but instead going directly to the canvas. It is so fantastical to me because it is like painting a story without knowing what it will be in the end. They come out on their own, sometimes amazed me seeing how they reveal their faces in the first strokes. To me, that is fascinating.

To me, women should be celebrated after a make-up application by receiving compliments of how beautiful they look and not about their makeup.
